Hello, I'm Tara.
Looking for short-term and long-term freelance; open to full-time opportunities should the right one come along :)
About me
Grew up on a farm in South Jersey, then moved to NYC to study illustration. Spent eight years at the Society of Illustrators as an exhibitions coordinator and graphic designer, then joined Gawker Media in 2014 as an in-house illustrator and art director. I stayed in news media for about a decade, art directing and illustrating along the way, and taught illustration at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia before shifting focus back to my own illustration career.
I have two nearly identical dogs, Banana and Frannie, and a home I perpetually and obsessively curate. Obsessed with sci-fi, horror and trying to comprehend theoretical physics.

About my work
My work is bright, playful, thoughtful and driven by curiosity. At its core, it's about connection: using humor and conceptual thinking to make people feel something, whether the piece lives on a page, a wall, or in a few little boxes. If it makes someone pause, smile, laugh, or even raise an eyebrow, I've done my job.
This year I really want to...
ilIustrate a children's book, paint my feelings, and (hopefully) work with you!
